Charles River Wine Cellars was started by Edward Loughran in 1999 as a division of his business, Set In Stone, which provided fine stone masonry services throughout the Greater Boston area. As a professional masonry contractor with a background in design and carpentry, Ed saw an opportunity to merge these three passions. The first wine cellar was built in his own home to begin a modest collection and learn about properly storing fine wines.
It only took a few years before Set in Stone’s wine cellar projects outnumbered the stone masonry projects. Ed decided in 2003 to pursue his vision to focus solely on designing and building custom wine cellars as Charles River Wine Cellars. By 2006, Charles River Wine Cellars was designing fully renovated basement projects to include wine cellars, wine tasting rooms, custom bars, home theaters, game rooms, home gyms, and other specialty rooms.
Throughout the years, Ed has built a solid team of specialty professionals enabling him to implement the unique and varied design and construction requests of his distinctive clients. Today Charles River Wine Cellars is a division of Charles River Design Build, specializing in extraordinary home renovation projects.
